Traditional built model not too daunting for someone who has a few traditional kits under there belt. The cut ribs and formers supplied make it very much like a kit anyway. Uses a lot of wood in the fuselage which needs to be carved and sanded to shape to give a deep large scale like fuselage. The wood needed for this is not in the additional wood pack and so will probably be an additional quite expensive purchase. Built to plan other than some minor deviations driven by availability; Used a Robbe Belcrank which fitted perfectly, balsa spar webbing and beefed up undercarriage. Large deep fuselage makes radio installation a doddle. Found the original magazine article which gave an impression that it needed to be flown carefully as it can bite back which was a little disconcerting. The article stated all up weight should be 5.5 lbs, the plan 5 lbs. Mine came to 5lbs but I needed nearly a pound in lead shot and resin poured into the nose to bring the CG to plan. Not sure why mine is on the portly side other than not carving the fuselage enough. In the air it has scale like presence and fly’s with no issues despite its weight. It needed very little trimming on its maiden. Easy to fly, its a large glider so needs to be flown as such but performs aerobatics gracefully and with ease using it’s weight to pull through manoeuvres. Inverted flight seems to need a fair bit of down elevator but not really explored as I prefer scale like flying. Control throws as per plan except for the ailerons where I reduced the differential. Found that there was no adverse yaw but rolls where off-axis as the lifting wing was doing all of the rolling. The 1 degree of negative elevator to the wing incidence shown on the plan is also spot on.
